is the new name for the CAD Drafting
Services division of
CAP Design Services,
a prominent provider of temporary
technical personnel in the northern New
Jersey Tri-State area for over 25 years.
The
backgrounds of our CAD Drafters consist
of a multitude of disciplines insuring
that we are able to provide
knowledgeable and professional
service to any project. Our senior
CAD people were trained
the "old school" way, on the drafting
board,
and know
what a drawing should contain and how it
should be laid out. And our
"new school" Drafters know what the
latest CAD programs have to offer, and
the speed to use them. The
combination produces finished drawings
that are complete and are furnished in
short turnaround times.
All work
is performed in the
United
States of America
No "next day" time
zone delays or miscommunications due to
drafting and
engineering practice differences.
How we came to be...
CAP
Design Services
acknowledged that CAD was rapidly moving
from the large mainframe computer
environment to the PC and in 1989 the
CAD Drafting division was started,
offering CAD services to engineering
firms that where making that new
transition. The costs
for owning the hardware and software
were very high. AutoCAD was $7500 a seat, a 30 meg hard-drive cost $800, a 1
meg memory strip went for $100, a good
black and white graphics card cost more
than $2000, you saved files on a 8"x10"
Bernoulli cartridge, and the program
your system lived or died by was
Quarterdeck's expanded memory manager.
One seat of AutoCAD cost around $15,000, and that's
not including another $15,000 for a
plotter. It was
very advantageous to outsource CAD
drafting, and we filled that need.
And as the Personal Computer came of
age, and prices started to come down,
CAP Design Services extended its ability
to serve the ever expanding base of
small businesses who were getting
more computer savvy and dependent.
These businesses were also learning how
to use the computer for other functions
such as accounting, spreadsheets, word
processing and a host of other business software
and a CAD
program all at the same time, which was quite
a bit to learn all at once.
At that time CAD salesman did not help
this problem. Some almost claimed CAD software worked
by it self with only a click here, and a
symbol there, just push a button and out popped a drawing.
They could not be any further from the
truth. Drafting, and the skill to
create a working drawing, still is, and always
will be
it's own profession. The only
thing that has changed are the tools
used to create the drawing not the
knowledge that goes into creating it. Outsourcing your CAD
drafting is still the logical choice for
saving you overhead expenses and, more
importantly, your time.
